Since Mother’s Day is coming up soon I would rather do a field trip this weekend versus Mother’s Day weekend. It is a bit early but I think many birds are early this year. We will bird in the Powers area on Saturday 2 May (with Sunday as a rain day if needed). We will meet at 0530 at Sturdivant Park in Coquille (near intersection of Hwy 42S and Hwy 42). We can carpool there and then head straight to Powers. I think we will start at Powers Park. Always good to get an early start not only because it is birdier but also to avoid the weekend traffic at the park. We will probably not be back to Sturdivant Park until noon or so. Bring a lunch, rain gear (to ward off any rain), lunch/snacks, beverages, etc.
We will do some walking but the longest trip will be around the pond- maybe a 1/2 to 1/3 mile going slow and looking and listening for migrants. Please contact Tim (timrodenkirk@gmail.com) by Thursday so I know who to expect and of course to answer any questions beforehand.
