Dec. 7, Saturday, 8-11am, Winter Gull Field Trip, Bandon
Join trip leader Tim Rodenkirk for this rain-or-shine field trip focused on learning how to identify winter gulls. For those new to birding, gull ID can seem intimidating, but Tim is an excellent teacher. We will have waterproof gull ID sheets to help you learn key traits. Those who have shied away from gull ID are especially welcome! Semi-nasty weather is actually perfect for observing gulls as they often hunker down on land during rainy weather. (If the weather is too nice, gulls will be offshore.) Plan to bring full rain gear, good boots for wet weather, and a bandanna (or two) to keep your binoculars dry if it is wet. Please RSVP to Tim via email by the Thursday (Dec. 5.) before the trip at timrodenkirk@gmail.com. There is the possibility that truly inclement weather would prompt Tim to switch the trip to Sunday Dec. 8 so if you want to participate, make sure to RSVP. Meet at the south end of the Ray’s parking lot, near the Tin Cup Coffee Hut.
