Coos Bay Field Trip 10/5/2024

Trip leader Tim Rodenkirk will be leading a trip to bird on Coos Bay. The trip will start at the North Spit, a birding hotspot is known for its mix of wetlands, dunes, forests and waterfront. After that the group will bird over at the South Jetty. Bring binoculars, spotting scope if you have one, snacks, rain gear, sun screen and cookies for the guide (ha!)– whatever you need, figuring we will be done around noon. Meet at the BLM boat ramp on the North Spit of Coos Bay at 7:30am. (Directions: Follow Hwy 101 north over the McCullough Bridge, then turn left on Trans Pacific Ln, the diked road out to the North Spit. Stay on main road–do not turn off to Bluebill Campground. At just over 4 miles, you’ll see a boat ramp on left. Cross railroad track into large parking area.) Sunday Oct. 6, same time same place, is the bad weather alternate date. RSVP via email to Tim by Oct. 3 (the Thursday beforehand) to let him know you are coming so he can let you know the final plans. His email is: timrodenkirk@gmail.com.
