Tim Rodenkirk will lead a field trip to Fossil Point in Coos Bay on Saturday, 2/17/24, to look primarily for waterfowl.
Our field trip will be a joint venture with our sister Audubon chapter to the south, Kalmiopsis Audubon, on Saturday, February 17 toCharleston-Fossil Point from 10 am to 3 pm. Tim Rodenkirk will lead the birding trip. Tim says seasonal conditions and low tide make it some of the best birding in our region, with opportunities to see a variety of gulls, ducks, and more. Meet in Charleston at 10AM at the parking lot in the harbor area next to the Betty Kay fishing place. There is ample parking and a restroom there.
The group will bird there and near OIMB, and then carpool for the short drive over to Fossil Point (where parking is limited). Bring full rain gear, a spotting scope if you have one (an umbrella for each spotting scope), There will be no formal lunch so bring snacks. Birding with Tim is a great opportunity to learn and to be inspired by his enthusiasm. If you are interested to attend, please RSVP directly to Tim at timrodenkirk@gmail.com.
